Working hard!

I took this photo last week and I'm posting it to show everyone the difficult circumstances in which I occasionally have to work. Out of sight to the left of the photo is the gas BBQ with some nice salmon steaks (hence the Sancerre rather than red) and the book is real work rather than simply enjoyment. The yellow blob is a Citronella candle to keep the bugs away. You'll see that the garden is reasonably tamed and there are apples on the tree behind the table. They are still a little bitter but I'm sure they will be fine soon.

It's a tough life at times! :-)

15 careful considerations:

You'll need your brolly up over your desk this week!

Wish mine was as tidy!

Nope - it's beautiful here today and it's a shame that I'm stuck indoors with some work to do :-(

Lucky you. Its grey, windy and cold here today. Can't you just tell I have a case of post holiday blues :-)

When the apples are ready then make some Apfel Strudel?

Salmon and Sancerre - Lush ;-)

That's where you work? What are you, a wood nymph or something??? ;-) lol

Seriously, i'm jealous. Good for you!

Oh Mornev! What a great idea! I have some strudel pastry in the freezer from last time we baked and plenty of the other makings (brown sugar and raisins and cinnamon and so forth). And liking the nice things in life doesn't make me a lush :-)

EM - Yes, that's where I work when the weather allows. I'm not a wood nymph but they have my number and I help them out when they are short-handed.

Yes, it's nice. The money is crap and the hours are long and I never know where the next job is coming from but while it lasts.......................

My tutor takes my essays literally just like you!

We used to make a savoury strudel in the restaurant. Spinach, walnut and cream cheese strudel eh?

We found a good alternative to Sancerre in Spain this last trip but I can't remember what it was called - doh! It was made by Osbourne, the brandy people, and it is a mix of 2 grapes, Chardonnay and a local grape, one called Palomino, which gives it an earthy robustness, stands up against all sorts of fish well :-)

Morning - have you tried potato strudel? Make it with par boiled spuds, onions and caraway seeds and roll it as you would any other strudel. It's scrumdishous. The spinach one sounds cool too!

Thanks for the tip Ann (I think! Has anyone worked out what it's called yet? :-))

I've found it! - its called Gadir

Now to find it on sale in UK - we should have brought some back!!

Yep, looks terribe. Watch out for that Devil snake, he'll be there soon to tempt you.

Nogbad said...

Thanks Ann!

Wendy - any snake wanting to tempt me had better join the queue - but I do have to admit that the queue of people trying to tempt me is dealt with a good deal quicker than the queue of people wanting money from me :-)

Gruesste Chiquita, Ja es ist sehr toll aber es ist auch virklich klein. And although I can keep bashing German words into this space I'm not sure how far from Hoch Deutsch I'd be straying :-)
