Not a bad way to spend time
Pimms made with cloudy lemonade so it looks like beer. The book is bobbins; formulaic with two-dimensional characters. I don't care if any of the main protagonists are washed away in a freak storm.

Health issues
Frequent fliers will remember that last year we went to Horsham for a bit of cricket. This year we're heading further afield - to Taunton next week. Of course this imposes certain dietary restrictions. The following from Phil;
"Is cider the only drink we shall be allowed next week, a health drink I'll grant you, and it counts towards our five a day ( a fairly tame target I think we shall achieve without too much trouble) but we should consider sloe gin, plumb vodka etc and a strange beer I had the other day in Wetherspoons that had coriander in it!"So you'll see that we're taking our health concerns seriously and if anyone is in any way concerned about the well-being of three elderly gents in the West Country at least you'll note that we're being sensible about what we eat :-) (I have suggested that the beer with coriander is more likely to be an accident with some garnish falling off a sandwich)

The token
This is the token exchange. The guy with his arm up is waiting for the engineer to give him the token which the engine must have to pass along the single bidirectional track section of line. The signalman is watching from the signal box.
I knew this would happen so I was waiting for the shot but the really great thing is the little girl on someone's shoulders - she's got her hands over her ears to block the sound of the engine passing.

The Anniversary of D-Day, probably a date as important in European history as the Battle of Hastings. The battle for Normandy was vicious, the German army suffered higher daily losses than during the battle for Stalingrad. The image is a reminder from an earlier war, the war to end all wars.
