Phew!

Just got back, nearly four hours because of the weather - the M1 was flooding in places and there were lightening flashes and all sorts of good things. It's very steamy here in Kent so I guess we'll be having a drop of weather soon.

On the up-side: City grabbed a draw at Old Trafford to stay third in the Premiership! Heady times!

On the funny side: Another animation about ID Cards and tres jolly it is too!

On the Intelligent Design front: The Smithsonian are becoming embroiled!

I'm knackered now. I need a nice cup of tea and a rub down with the Radio Times. I think I'll go and veg in front of tne idiot box for a while.

26 careful considerations:

Only 2.5 hours here, but we saw plenty of weather on the way down!
My punters kept sneaking onto the BBC News website... can't think why ;-)

At least you had technology!!!! I missed Rob because I was held up on the M1 going (accident near J7) and they started early (without me!). Met Rocky and Julie and Jacquie and Ed and a few other familiar names.

It was most inconsiderate of them to start without you! Hope your vegging did the trick... I'm still trying to wind down - bloody adrenaline :-)

I hear parts of Kent are flooded.....

At this rate, I'm going to need a dictionary to understand your blog. LOL

That weather sounds scary. I hope everything is okay where you live. Does the UK ever get tornadoes? I honestly can't ever remember hearing of one. Anyway, stay say and on high, dry land.

It's unusual EM, but not unheard of.
We like the wet. Happiness is a wet Kent.

We had a tornado not long ago in Lancashire. See this bbc report which says that according to studies by the Tornado and Storm Research Organisation (Torro), the UK has the most tornadoes for the size of the country in the world.

kat said...

PS ......... but they are not as big as American tornados. :-)

Anonymous said...

They always do it bigger over the pond....
BTW the UK is thought to be the ancient Island of the Dead.

kat said...

Do you want to explain that GW cos I am pretty sure I'm not dead.

Anonymous said...

Oh, just that weird things happen in the UK, like freakish storms etc. The Island of the Dead was where the major lay lines of the world crossed and met. Some storms have been shown to follow lay lines.....

You are too late Squid. There is already a starbucks on every corner and WE are the ones who invented curry.

Isn't it wonderful taking cooking advice from a country that gave the world McDonalds? :-))))

Last night I enjoyed baked cod with a sauce made with butter, lemon juice, capers, cucumber and anchovies. I had spinach and potatoes with that (and a bottle of Sancerre) - is that tasty enough Squid? :-)

Anonymous said...

No. You need gratuitous coleslaw with that, BBQ sauce and a cold watery beer. Oh! and potato mixed with cardboard reshaped and deep fried in a french style.

How about Belgium chocolate ice cream for dessert?

It'd be better than a McFlurry....
Or a Mississippi mud pie for that matter.....

I look forward to a chance to say "Jolly it is too!"

OK I read up on the Smithsonian situation. That's the sort of thing that puts me off non-profits. They are often little better than big bad corporate business.

The ID card thing was news to me but I agree - what an awful idea. I had to use IE to view the animation but it was brilliant!! And hey, one of my relatives played a kazoo!! How cool is that??? I could use one of those pink tutus...

As for the rest, I now understand that while you may get the odd tornado they're not as damaging as those in North America (good news!). And you guys like rain so flooding isn't usually viewed as a problem (more good news!). I'm still trying to interpret the rest of the post but will keep at it. :)

Toad in the hole??? What's that? Where'd he write that??

When did the Squid appear??? lol

Anonymous said...

No Indians Squid?

Anonymous said...

And toad in the hole is, in fact, simply sausages baked in batter (the same batter as used for Yorkshire Puddings).
WTF is a Chimmy-Chonga? It sounds like an affection name for male genitalia.

Hence all Mexicans are made from meat beans cheese and tortillas.
Do they still have slices of lime stuck in the necks of their beer bottles?

I meant, you are what you eat.
Today I am a cabbage.

Ha! My Mother loves that show "Are you being served". I was always partial to AbFab, and the one with Hyacinth. LOL

Just recently my little bro introduced to a new BBC show called Little Britain I think... hilarious!! The english always have the best comedies!
