I posted what might otherwise have been a blog post on Facebook. Not a problem but I've been wondering about why I might go there instead of here - particularly as Facebook has a different audience - one that is limited and "controlled".
Anyways - Mild at The Mermaid yesterday and a picnic on a train today. The train is on the World's smallest passenger railway; The Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch.

7 careful considerations:
I signed up for Facebook last month but left it alone.
It seems to be splitting the Web into little groups of people with like minded interests and of similar social standing. How does this encourage openness and sharing? How does it encourage cross cultural and real social integration?
I'm not sure I see it that way Kat. I think it's another generation, a new tool which does something different. Facebook doesn't lend itself to this type of dialogue (yet) but it has lots of other tools which might (or might not) be useful. Dunno - that's my view today but that's liable to change at any time :-)
I'm just being grumpy because everyone else likes it and I don't - I think it needs a facelift.
Must admit I was intrigued by that, too - when I read the note on Facebook, I automatically looked here next, to see if there were comments, & was surprised to see they weren't linked (I'm not blogging much these days, but have Facebook set up to import blog entries).
I like the way Facebook lets you bring together contacts who are important to you from different walks of life - my "friends" are colleagues, fellow students, family members, a favourite writer, random OU acquaintances. You can also interact with them in a whole range of ways (I'm on "aquarium sharing" terms wth some, "movie review" terms with others, for example)whereas on a blog all you can really do is send out a general message that may or may not reach anyone.
But Facebook doesn't have fun word verifications like "pnucfzic" LOL
Strangely I'd not thought to feed facebook from here but I've set that up now.
When I checked out Facebook I couldn't see the big deal. I prefer Blogger, but then I didn't really navigate around Facebook much and hadn't noticed one could import blog entries. Something to explore when dark winter nights set in?
Facebook makes me nervous because anyone can see anything about you. It is not particularly safe, that I can tell, in terms of personal security. But it is fun with friends.
