Hobbies

I decided to learn how to play Backgammon and so, as you might expect, I went around the web looking for some software to play against. And here it is! It's available from GNU Backgammon and has different play levels from beginner to expert and also has a tutor mode which flags up dubious, bad or very bad moves so that you can play unaided until it thinks you're setting off somewhere daft. It also uses a doubling cube and offers advice about that too. A final bonus, the playing area can be shown as 2D or 3D and the board and pieces selected from a smashing range of sets. It's free and if anyone plays or wants to learn it's a smashing toy.

10 careful considerations:

Free Backgammon for your Palm. Not the same style or quality of graphics but it is free.

I went for an interview yesterday and was playing that very version of backgammon on the Palm while waiting to be called in :-)

Oh! I was going to ask if he won at Backgammon. :-) I'm sure the interview would have gone okay.

No idea how the interview went - interview panels are not easy to read. I lost a couple of games of backgammon though, still not fully got me head round it. I'll just keep plugging away I suppose.

Kat - thanks for the vote of confidence :-)

I played Backgammon a lot when I was a kid, but now I have forgotten how to play. I'll check out the link.

Cripes, now I'll never get off this damn system. I'm a backgammon freak. It's my favourite game. LOL You have to see if it knows the Russian form of the game. It's killer ;)

Russian backgammon? Information from a Canadian mouse? Should I be getting my prescription checked? :-)

LOL
Well, my brother (a moose) actually taught me the Russian form. I'm not sure if it's really Russian, but that's what he calls it. Course at the time, he was taking Russian Language at University so who knows.

I'm going to try to find the rules somewhere because if I try to explain it, I will screw it up for sure! lol
