I'd hate anyone to think that we only have a pub in Bishopsbourne - here is a photo of another local amenity (which is actually beside the pub). I've already posted photos of the church and I think there's one of the phone box somewhere too.Of course posting letters in Bishopsbourne is expensive because whenever I go to the letterbox Steve waves from behind the bar and it would be rude not to pop in and say "Hello!" and that usually leads to at least one pint.
8 careful considerations:
My neighbour is heavily into Post Boxes (there are clubs etc., its a bit like train spotting) and the GR on the front of yours must indicate it is special - I'll ask him next time I see him.
pal - it's one of the Georges, isn't it? I think it might be George V, so it's quite an old one.

Happy photo was a function of trying to do things so I could see where the gaps in the software library are. Image manipulation so I had to go and find Irfanview. FTP meant a big search for a freebie that's not widely available anymore but I found it on an old mirror site. I still can't find some install CDs but I'll get by adding stuff as and when I need it.

Hiya bluefluff - I saw my neighbour this morning, he caught me in my PJs so recall of the following is a bit hazy due to embarrassment!
You are right it is George V. George VI post boxes have a VI between the G and the R.
George V, was 1865-1936. Apparently some of these boxes were painted blue in the 1930s (you can ascertain this if the paintwork is chipped) this meant they were for Airmail letters. It wasn't a successful scheme and it was axed after about 3 years.

George V may have lived that long but I have a feeling that someone else was in charge for a lump of that time - funnily enough her initial was V as well! He was George V from 1910 to 1936, prior to that he was the Duke of York. I'm a bit worried about your neighbour though - I carry some useless stuff in my head but this guy sonds a bit worrying! :-)
