5 careful considerations:
"a special guy in management theory who also made sense!"
That makes him unique in my experience...
It is a shame that many managers distort his ideas. They set 'targets' rather then 'objectives' for others without much consultation or agreement and then completely wash their hands of them themselves. People then, not surprisingly, end up meeting these targets in very strange ways.
I hadn't heard of Peter Drucker. I read the Guardian link & didn't feel particularly wiser as to why he was so special.
Then tonight I was filling some gaps (for H806 preparation) by reading up on the "knowledge economy" in Wikipedia, & saw:
The Knowledge Economy refers to the use of knowledge to produce economic benefits. The phrase was popularised if not invented by Peter Drucker
Well, I thought, fancy that!
Just read his obituary in the Times. What a lovely man and what a career and what twinkly eyes he had.
I had no idea he died. So many have died this week, it's incredible.
Being in business (formerly anyway) he was someone I often heard about and read.
