Fascinating

There is something mesmerising and faintly disturbing about this. If there is stickage try click and drag. Let me know what you think (with thanks to Gillie!)

26 careful considerations:

This lady swims very well for a human.

Funny... I too was going to use a sentence with those same two words to describe this! Mesmerizing And Disturbing... however.. it was going to go more like, "This is one of the most trippy things I've seen on a Web Page... mesmerizing, yet disturbing... somewhat empowering too."

P.S. Do you run spell check?

Nogbad said...

Not sure about empowering but certainly trippy. Did you try dragging her between the spheres?

No - no spillchucking in this neighbourhood. What did I spell wrong?

bluefluff said...

I think the spillchucking issue may be down to Profound Cultural Differences - this side of the pond we mesmerise; that side, you mesmerize :-)
Nicely explained here.

wow! weird...I mean....really, really weird

Nogbad said...

Hey Cheri - I've read your stuff! "Weird!" is high praise indeed! :-))))))

Nogbad said...

Thanks for the link Bluefluff - I thought it may be the ise/ize thang. Is that the one IF or did I mess up elsewhere too?

Inner Fonzie said...

Yes... (or is it Yez over there?) ;)

You don't find it empowering to toss some chick all over the place at your whim. Empowering, in the sense that you can have fun tossing some chick around at your whim and not get arrested.

Nogbad said...

The weird thing is that I'm often getting jive for using American English spelling from British people who don't know their izations from their isations! :-)

I hear what you're saying about ladies and being arrested but this animation is a little too "crash test dummy" isn't it?

And anyway, if Scary says it's weird that's praise enough for me! :-)

bluefluff said...

I thought the disturbingness (?!) was partly to do with the fact she looks sort of vulnerable (childish figure, semi-clad) & you have control over her fate......

It's also maybe to do with the way she bends? There's one particular move where it looks as if her leg is going to twist off, like a cheap imitation Barbie doll.

Empowering, maybe, but a kind of power you don't particularly want to have?

Nogbad said...

I think that's probably it. It's a sort of voyeuristic power and one that seems to be immature (the vulnerability is based on childlike isn't it?) - but after the psychoanalysis - it's a damn fine bit of code and a very clever bit of actualization.

Inner Fonzie said...

Exactly... not empowering as in. "Yeah... I wish I could do thay!"

More like empowering as in, "Wow. look at what *I* can do! That's so mezmerizing and disturbing at the same time!"

Nogbad said...

You know? I think mesmerizing and disturbing sums it up :-)

Sorry to hear that you are having health related problems. The future Mrs Lobster is keen to go out for a curry, so I will have to disappear now. Just to say I think to drink down two pints of the stuff in one go is likely to make you feel a little queasy.

Nogbad said...

Ah so that helps explain the queasiness - I'd been blaming the booze but your explanation certainly has a ring of truth.

Thanks for the insight into the inner workings of the Lobster household - I hope you and the F Mrs L have a smashing time. It's good to see that even in the digital age the old fashioned traditions of a curry on a Sunday night are still being observed. It's also good to see that these courting rituals have still not died out, looking into each other's eyes across a Tikka Mossalah in much the same way our parents and grandparents and great-grandparents might have done.

I'll cut down on the Actimel - thanks again for the tip :-)

I wonder if she knows that she is a lobster.

Nogbad said...

Is that one of those metaphysical questions? Do elephants know that they are elephants? :-)

kat said...

They probably don't call themselves elephants but I think they recognise another elephant when they see one. :-)

Nogbad said...

So as long as TF Mrs L recognises Mr L it's okay then isn't it? Need she know that she's a lobster? :-)

kat said...

I suppose that's okay then. :-)

Two lobsters were sunbathing on the beach. The lady lobster suggested that the gentleman lobster get them an ice cream each. Having purchased two ice cream cones Mr. Lobster made his way back to the beach, deciding on the way to eat his ice cream.

By the time he has finished the ice cream he realized that his lady friend's ice cream had started to melt all down his claw, so he licked it up and ended up eating it.

When he arrived back at the beach his lady lobster friend exclaimed, "Where are the ice creams?"

"Well" he said. "I decided to eat mine. Then yours melted, so I ate that too."

His lady friend was incensed and cried, "How could you be so shellfish!"

Wonderful! I wonder if we'll see that joke spreading through the blogosphere? If we do I'll be preserving this page in aspic in preparation for the blue plaque :-)

It's very nice to meet you too.I enjoyed your pig drawings. Mine didn't look much like a pig, but then we don't see many of them this far under.
