Weirdness!

Something strange happening here - all the gear in the right-hand column has centred itself - does it look the same to everone else?

18 careful considerations:

It's something on this page - checking the archives (which use the same template) shows that the weirdness is less apparent - I'm guessing it's the posting with the "Make poverty history" image, the link to that posting also appears strange in the sidebar list. I've tweaked the template to realign the sidebar content and we'll just have to see where it goes next!

It looks as though your About Me and Links column has slipped to the end of your main left hand postings column.

I've had a quick look and can't see anything obvious. Perhaps your lines between posts are pushing things out, is one too long somewhere? Or maybe a graphic is doing something similar?

Sorry can't be more help.

Found it! There was a wrangham tag in the table definition and the blogging parser had added some rubbish around it - great fun reading raw code!

Guess you are still fixing it then? I still have to shoot down miles to find your links.

Yes, IE is still bunging everything at the bottom - been that way for a couple of days now. It's fine in Firefox, though :-)

I think that must be browser specific Ann - it looks right in Firefox, what are you using?

Is it to do with the text size. The text looks massive in I.E and SlimBrowser but as others say it looks okay in Firefox.

The piccy either side of Nogbad's View does not show in Firefox.

Nogbad said...

Well that's double weirdness with a slice of weirdity! I use Firefox and they show up happier than a happy thing!

Could be to do with my settings I suppose. I'll take a look later. The weather pixie doesn't show either in Firefox. (Same for my own site. ) I have Adblock installed but I don't think that is effecting anything.

I think the text size in IE is to do with the way it seems to decide to read the CSS strangely at times - it may be forcing a bigger gap between columns and that's what's pushing the links to the bottom - the duffer there is the "G8" posting. The images either side of the heading are PNGs - I'll convert them to gifs and see if that works better. The weather pixie is lovely and I can see her in Firefox - I wonder if it's versions? I'm on 1.0.4 I suppose I'll have to do some stuff on the template to see if I can make it all IE compliant again - ho hum :-)

I am using the same version.

Can you see the weather pixie on my blog from Firefox? It's there in I.E.

Nogbad said...

Yup - I had a look a little while ago. She's looking very foxy in a yellow frock and she's blonde and at 17:20 BST it was 20C, 72.9% humidity and the wind was 13KPH from the S/SW. That help? Until you can se it you can always mail me and I'll let you know your weather :-)

:-)Thanks for checking.

I don't know what the problem is with my Firefox browser. It must be a setting somewhere but I have allowed all images to be downloaded and I know it's not Adblock because I've uninstalled it. Bit of a mystery for now but I'll take another look.

Just to let you know its still looking wierd in IE. Your text is big and because of that the link to make poverty history in your "Link" message has pushed your column out. Check your text size settings or just make the text for that link smaller .....

You got your bossy head on today Ann? :-))))

I'll have a look later - busily busy working right now. I think it's the way IE reads the CSS written by the blogger software. Ultimately I might have to recode it all to make sure it works everywhere.

Whoops, sorry to come over all bossy :-) That's what comes of doing things in a rush - my words popped out terse n' bossy rather than concise!

Recoding seems a bit drastic :-(

Nogbad said...

Chill Ann - I know that you're not bossy :-)

Recoding isn't that drastic, I'll simply copy it all into Dreamweaver to edit it and then copy it back but it'll have to wait while I sort out some other stuff.
