Displacement activities.......

Of course the problem with displacement activities is that I keep forgetting what I'm displacing........ I think I must be having a CRAFT moment.

7 careful considerations:

Thanks for dropping by in Topsyturveydom. Glad to make contact with a fellow manc, especially a City fan. I like " I blog therefore I am" as a statement of the necessity to be online in the 21st century. Our identities are becoming more cyber than ever...

Cheers Rob! I'm not sure that our identities are becoming cyber, I prefer to think that we can have a cyber identity in parallel with our other identities - it's pluralist in the we can select what we allow people to know of ourselves online (in the same way that we can face to face), it's a relationship like any other in that some people are given more access than others.

CTID! :-)

Yes, identities. In cyberspace, no-one knows who you are... or something. The thing is, though, that the blog is, almost by definition, going to announce to the world who we are, including cryptic in-jokes like CTID, which most will not get. It *is* vanity publishing in that respect.
Just noticed your OU stuff - I'm also working as an AL this year, and enjoying it.

Oh it's certainly "vanity" publishing but I'm still not sure it shows who we are - only who we choose to portray ourselves as :-)

The inclusive/exclusive language (CTID) will always happen too won't it? Doesn't it show that we're part of the same group?

What course are you working on?

I'm on A103 Introduction to the Humanities. It's interesting for me to teach stuff i wouldn't normally do - e.g philosophy, history, music. Also slightly scary: there have been a couple of wing and a prayer moments. Overall though, I'm glad I signed up to do it.

A103! I happen to know that other A103 people occasionally visit this blog!

I've just applied to tutor an Arts course (or move over the the dark side as someone referred to it) - the Leonardo short course, it looks fascinating.

I recognise the wing & a prayer moments too - I have them frequently :-)

Yes, I've shared some of those moments with Rob :-)
Including one officially designated by the A103 Course Team as "the TMA 05 debacle" (can't be *rsed doing HTML accents at this time of night).
