I love different views or ways of looking at things. So here's another one - a site dedicated to some superb photographs taken while walking the route of the Circle Line in London. Of course it's the route above ground but it's fascinating to see the range buildings and landmarks joined by the route of an underground rail link, something totally unconnected with the ground above. The photos are taken with a pinhole camera and are beautiful.

Lovely pictures. Did you know that there is a man especially employed by the London underground to look after the bat colonies in disused stations?
Matthew Pariss did a Radio 4 series of programmes about Street Life in cities and talked to the bat-man and then waited until the last train had gone through a station and the power was switched off and saw the thousands of underground mice that appeared right on time to feed on all the food dropped by us humans.
Isn't that wonderful? I know that when there was talk of renovating the Basingstoke canal (bet you didn't know that canals are a passion of mine!) there were problems because a particular tunnel is the home of a colony of bats and they are protected so the tunnel can't be cleared. There is a tunnel here in Kent which was originally part of a canal (near Gravesend) but is now used by the railway, every now and again it's closed for repairs because it's damp - and that's because canal builders used to go looking for water wherever possible so it's a sign of their success that a tunnel is "adding" water.
